Beautiful memorial. A must see.
A beautifully designed war memorial that reflects Maryborough's greater status in the first decades of the twentieth century. Four statues of a soldier, sailor, airman and nurse surround the main obelisk topped by an angel. The names of local men who died in the Great War are inscribed on plaques. Around the memorial are commemorative plaques to remember other more recent conflicts. A solemn yet elegant place that still is at the centre of the town's ANZAC and Remembrance Sunday ceremonies.
Wonderful tribute
Rather large parkland the cement footpaths make it easier for prams and wheelchairs , historical old shady trees! neat lovely gardens with many tributes to the war time statues, garden and monuments alike There is a children's play area with musical playable equipment this is situated near toilets and amenities ! The whole area is a lovely relaxed day out follow the footpaths ,do stop and read the signs n plaques along the way!the parklands and footpaths do stretch as far up to the theatre entertainment center ,where a cafe is situated over looking the river !! There is also a children's play ground and toilet block on the hill above the sailing club ,the area is rather large and all connects as far down to the boat club where you will find a restaurant that is on the river !!There is a train that operates in the parklands for the children at certain times and the old steam train does operate through the park usually on a last Sunday of a month great for the elderly and young there is a small cost , its a pitty the ride doesn't go further as the old train lines are still part of the town ships history ! The council are upgrading the park currently Close by is the post office court house Woolworths
